POSH SR400/500 CLUTCH CABLE, STANDARD LENGTH - 010112-CL / 010012-CL.
The POSH "Standard Length Clutch" (OEM replacement) cable can be used on all models of SR400/500's (78-21). Please note, the length reference is measured in comparison to the SR400 (88~18), SR500 (88~99) & the FI model built between (10~18). This measurement is done with the factory Yamaha bars on these models. If you swap your bars to custom bars that require the standard OEM length, then this cable is a great option with many custom bars as a replacement / repair item.
Owners of early models (78-82) that were originally fitted with wide / high factory bars should not confuse the length as being the standard OEM length when used on the early model built between 78-82. See notes below if you have factory high bars as per the 78-82 model!
LENGTH:
+ Cables are measured on the black outer end to end (not inner wire!).
+ OEM std length is typically 980mm (88-21) *it differs slight depending on year model (*83-87 are similar)
+ This cable is approx. 980mm long (end to end of the black casing / fitting), *use for repair.

-> Supplied with a genuine Yamaha lever cover boot.

*Cable here is classified as the standard length. This refers to the length used on the SR400/500 built between (88~18) with genuine type bars. The 83-87 are very similar but may differ slightly (20-30mm).
*Earlier 78~82 models in some regions had "wide bars". For early models bikes with "wide bars" the +100mm length (instead of this cable) allows for a good factory length fit. However, if your bike is an early model (PRE 83) and you have swapped the bars to later model bars or similar custom bars (smaller than the larger early 78~82 wide bar) then this cable is may still be able to be suitable, in that case see the length of cable spec above!!
XT500 use is possible but again consider this is the STD length for std 88-18 SR bars, it will be shorter than the XT std cable due to the different bars and forks, but if you have low bars on your XT, it may be a solution for your build. See length notes above!
NOTE:
1. Cables should be lubed at time of fitment.
2. Fitting should be carried out by a qualified experienced mechanic's as per the factory workshop manual.
3. Cable should always be tested before use on road to ensure the pull & return function is uninhibited, and cables have the correct free play adjustment.
4. We recommend making sure your clutch is in good order and adjusted correctly at the lever and the engine!
5. Cable fits with SR lever, if you have made changes to the Clutch lever ensure it is compatible with SR spec clutch cables.
