Product Overview
POSH SR400/500 (88~18) LONG CLUTCH CABLE, +100mm, 010111-C2.
The POSH +100mm "Long Clutch" cable can be used on all models of SR400/500's (78-21). The length reference is measured in comparison to the SR400 (88~18), SR500 (88~99) & the FI model built between (10~18). This measurement is done with the factory Yamaha bars on these models. If you swap your bars to wider and higher bars such as tracker bars or other custom bars that require the extra 100mm, then this cable is a great option with many custom bars.
Owners of early models (78-82) that were originally fitted with wide / high factory bars should not confuse the length as being +100 when used on the early model. See notes below if you have factory high bars as per the 78-82 model!
LENGTH:
+ Cables are measured on the black outer end to end (not inner wire!).
+ OEM std length is typically 980mm (88-21) *it differs slight depending on year model (*83-87 are similar)
+ This cable is approx. 1080mm long (end to end of the black casing / fitting)
NOTE:
Cable can be used on all 78-87 models SRs as well as the above-mentioned year models, however the length shown at +100mm when compared to early model with high bars will not be +100mm. In fact, due to the high and wide factory bars typically found on the early models built between 78-82, this cable is often substituted for the standard cable on the early SR500 78~82. So early model owners can use as an OEM replacement (or as a 50mm longer than std compared to the 78-82 models). If in doubt, see the length notes above!
DETAILS:
-> Cable outer is black, inner wire is stainless.
-> Made in Japan.
-> All POSH cables use stainless wires for longevity and use factory correct end fittings.
-> Ease of fitment is ensured and is the same process as changing a genuine cable.
-> As the original cable is not long enough for certain handlebars, when changing on the SR400/500 - use this cable to enable use of a wider range of bars (such as tracker or Scrambler type bars).
ATTENTION:
1. Cables should be lubed and adjusted "correctly" at time of fitment, both at the lever and at the engine! and always check cable has the correctly adjusted free play.
2. Fitting should be carried out by a qualified experienced mechanic's as per the factory workshop manual.
3. Cables should always be tested before use on road to ensure the return function is uninhibited.
4. Cable fits with OEM SR lever, if you have made changes to the Clutch lever ensure it is compatible with SR spec clutch cables, failing to do so can lead to premature failure.
