Product Overview

RR BMW MACHINED OIL TEMP GAUGE, WHITE DIAL, FLUID FILLED, Made in Germany (R 20)

As the name implies, this is an oil temperature gauge. This version (R 20) is longer than (R18) and is suited to bikes with the large oil pan (285mm). The RR oil temp gauges have a CNC machined housing, with a knurled edge. The precise temp gauge range is from 20 - 140 degree C. The "original RR gauges" are known around the world as one of the best temp gauges available, so you can have confidence in the quality. Made in Germany to the highest standards.

Use to keep an eye on temperature during summer, when warming up the engine in winter or for styling your bike. The fluid filled dial helps keep the needle stable, and it also helps avoid misting over in wet (rainy conditions) or when there are outside temperature fluctuations. Dial is accurate to (+/- 1%). Made in Germany to the highest standards.

NOTE, two versions are available, RR 20 is the 285 mm length and RR 18 is the 275 mm. This sale page is for the 285mm version - (measured without including the thread). Please check your original dip stick before ordering to ensure you are buying the correct length. For the 275mm version (normal oil pan type) see part # RR-18

LENGTH: 275MM x 33mm dia. (approx.) Large oil pan type

FAQ,

  • Q: When attached to the bike the dial direction may tilt or face in the wrong direction (depending on the bike).
  • A: to adjust follow the below guide
  1. To adjust, read the supplied instructions and care instruction sheet
  2. Warm up the bike (so gauge is warm) & then turn the engine off
  3. Once at operating temperature gently rotate the dial/face part to the desired position within the alloy housing
  4. Re fit to the bike and screw in as normal, check dial is aligned correctly (or in direction you desire)
  5. Fit to bike - enjoy.
  • Q: Does the temp gauge have a oil level mark for high and low level?
  • A: The dipstick is supplied without a maximum or minimum level mark. You can carefully add level marks if you wish.

Take your original dipstick and set your engine oil level to the maximum level (as per your workshop advice). Then when correctly at the max level, insert the temp gauge dipstick all the way, remove and mark the max level on the temp gauge probe. You can do this in several ways, one option is by gently scoring a line with the edge of a file. Once marked (scoring / paint etc.)  compare the temp gauge with the factory dip stick, when lined up (max / max) you can now measure a low level mark, mark a minimum line at the measured distance and re check side by side to ensure all is ok. In time you will be familiar with your new set up.

ATTENTION,

  • When handling the temp gauge (whilst hot) take care!
  • Hot oil can cause burns. Always wear gloves to protect your hands.
  • Use suitable protection for your bikes to avoid oil drips on your paint work, exhaust & engine etc.
  • Take care to NOT drop the temp gauge, it has a sensitive temp probe, if it lands on the probe it can cause damage
