DAYTONA SPEED SENSOR, PROXIMITY TYPE, NON-CONTACT, 87038
The DAYTONA proximity speed sensor is a universal non-contact type speed sensor (3 wire type) that can be used on a wide range of bikes. This speed sensor also allows for quick and easy hook up in a discreet manner. Simply wire up, set the sensor gap and secure in place. A basic bracket and ties are provided for quick install, but you can also make a custom bracket to hold the sensor as you like.
This type of sensor is typically used when a direct fit speed pulse converter is not available for your model, or in the case you are building a custom that omits the factory Speedo drive unit (Speedo drive at the wheel for example). Sensor is self-powered once wired up and picks up off a ferrous (metal) target (Brake rotor bolt or rear sprocket bolt are ideal), so no magnet is required.
This speed sensor can also be used to run a second electrical gauge or take the place of a factory speed sensor when fitting a mechanical speedometer or electrical speedometer such as a VELONA or DAYTONA electrical Speedo to the SR400FI (as an example) to replace the inbuilt speed sensor that resides within the mechanical factory Speedo.
Wire length is 2000 mm giving enough length for use at the front or rear in most cases. Speed sensor is compatible with all VELONA and DAYTONA gauges. Confirmed use on SR400/500, SR400FI, Triumph early carb models such as the Bonneville/Truxton, Honda CB range and many more. Bike must be running a 12v source (battery). Electrical speed sensors are usually not compatible with battery less systems (capacitor type ignitions).
NOTE: These sensors are a three-wire type and not compatible with two wire feeds used on other makes and brands of gauges.
