Product Overview

W650 {99-08}, "HIGH BAR SPEC" CLUTCH CABLE, 139331-CL

The W650 (99-08),"HIGH BAR SPEC", clutch cable is an excellent choice for custom motorcycle builds based on the Kawasaki W650. Or simply use as a direct OEM replacement for early model bikes and all year models fitted with the high bars (AKA: "UP BARS").

Outside of Japan in most regions the W650 was only offered with high bars from (99~00), however in Japan there was an option for a low bar spec W650 or a high bar spec W650, and due to the bikes age, many bikes have had changes over the years to lower bars. For owners of the low bar models, or bikes retro fitted with low custom bars, it is common to change the bars to higher custom bars to improve aesthetic or comfort to suit your styling. *If unsure of your bikes current spec, see length measurement below.

For custom bike builders, this High bar spec cable can be used with many custom or wide bars if your bike currently has low bar spec cables that are too short. For example, when changing handlebars to the higher custom bars such as the POSH W1 bars, POSH Dirt Tracker bars, Daytona Scrambler bars (or similar bars), this clutch cable is an essential item to avoid dangerously stretched tight cables.

With stainless steel inner wire and a durable black outer casing being used, both performance and aesthetics are catered to. Made in Japan, these cables meet high manufacturing standards and are OEM equivalent, making them a reliable replacement in the length you need with high bar spec or custom bars. And when you combine this cable with our separately available low bar spec "throttle cables" and correct High bar spec Daytona stainless "brake line" you will finish your bikes low bar or custom bar conversion like a pro!

LENGTH:
Approx. overall length of outer case + metal fittings is: 1335mm.
* Measured end to end length with fittings, (but does not include or quote the inner wire length!). Cable is measured while laid flat from metal end to metal end.

FEATURES:
-> Manufactured in Japan, ensuring OEM high quality.
-> Fitted with stainless steel inner wire.
-> Fitted with black outer casing providing a reliable and stylish upgrade to your motorcycle's controls in the low bar spec length!

NOTE:
1. Cable should be lubed well at the fitting and inner wire (and adjusted) correctly at time of fitment.
2. Fitting should be carried out by a qualified mechanic as per the factory workshop manual.
3. Cables should always be tested before use on road to ensure the return function is uninhibited and cables have correctly adjusted free play.

FAQ:
Q: What's the difference between 99-03 "high bars spec" clutch cables and the 04-08 "high bars spec" cable?
A: There is no real difference at all. The 04~08 type cables have a slightly extended outer PVC covering and cable outers by 150-200mm compared to the older 00~03 cables, which could just be a manufacturing difference. End fittings and pull lengths are exactly the same length so adjustment is not changed or affected at all.

Q: What's the difference between "high bars spec" clutch cables and the "low bars spec" cable?
A: The length is the obvious difference. Low bar spec is approx. 1210mm (case + fitting), and this high bar (up bar) spec is approx. 1335mm. So, the "high bars" have + 130 mm longer case (w/fittings) overall length than the low spec cable.

This makes a big difference when fitting higher or wider bars such as the factory up bar or custom bars as low spec cables are too short and will be stretch which is especially dangerous for the throttle cables! *Also, low bar spec cables have a metal end with an approx. 35-degree bend rather than the straight cable end. As the routing is changed the bent fitting on low bar cables helps with guiding the cable, but on high bars, you have enough height and room to route without the bent end.

Q: Can the "High bars spec" clutch cable be used with "low bars" or "clip on bars"?
A: The length is too long for the Low bars, and you will have overhang which looks terrible, and secondly it can be dangerous if routed poorly. As for clip on bars, absolutely not. High bar (aka: UP bars or Early model bars outside of Japan) are way too long to even consider using with clip on bars. Just forget that idea please!

However, if you are fitting low bars or clip on bars, we have low bar cables and we usually have clip on spec cables available, they are the first choice as they lose an extra XXmm length and do the job properly.

Q: What brake line suits the "High bars spec" conversion?
A: The 1000mm D spec line is the equivalent to the High Bar Spec. See part number 60598 which suits high bar conversions or OEM high bar replacement (& POSH W1 bars, POSH Dirt Tracker Bars, Daytona Scrambler bars etc.). *However, we have several lengths such as 900mm, 950mm etc. so you can tailor your brake line to be spot on!
