Product Overview

W650, 99-08, "-100MM SHORT" CLUTCH CABLE, FOR CLIP ON BAR USE, W10ST-CL-W

The W650 (99-08),"-100MM SHORT" Clutch cable for clip on bar use is for custom W650 builds wanting to use clip on bars or custom lowered bars that sit below the top bridge. For owners of the High bar models (or early models with high wide bars), and low bar models it is desirable to change the handlebars to clip on bars when creating your cafe racer or custom build.

Therefore, when changing the handlebars to a clip-on bars or very low custom bar, this length cable is an essential item to avoid unsightly and dangerous cable overhang which leaves your conversion looking sub-par!

Made by Toho wire in Japan and fitted stainless steel inner wire and a durable black outer casing, both performance and aesthetics are catered to. These cables meet high manufacturing standards and are OEM equivalent, making them a reliable replacement in the shorter (-100mm compared to low bar spec) length you need with lowered custom / clip on bars.

And when you combine these cables with our separately available clip-on bar spec "throttle cables" and correct length clip on bar tested Daytona stainless "brake line" you will finish your bikes clip on bar conversion like a pro!

LENGTH:
Approx. overall length of outer case + metal fittings is: 1115mm.
* Measured end to end length with fittings, (but does not include or quote the inner wire length!). Cable is measured while laid flat from metal end to metal end.

FEATURES:
-> Manufactured in Japan, ensuring OEM high quality.
-> Fitted with stainless steel inner wire.
-> Fitted with black outer casing providing a reliable and stylish upgrade to your motorcycle's controls in the short clip-on bar spec length!

SUITS:
+ W650 (99~03) model, requiring the low spec cables.
+ W650 (04~08) model, requiring the low spec cables.
+ W650 factory low bars, POSH Touring bars, POSH Conti bars, POSH UK bars & other similar sized low custom bars.

NOTE:
1. Cable should be lubed well at the fitting and inner wire (and adjusted) correctly at time of fitment.
2. Fitting should be carried out by a qualified mechanic as per the factory workshop manual.
3. Cables should always be tested before use on road to ensure the return function is uninhibited and cables have correctly adjusted free play.

4. The cable ends may be silver or black depending on production the batch.

FAQ:

Q: What's the difference between "low bars spec" clutch cables and the "clip-on bars spec" cable?
A: The length is the main difference. Low bar spec is approx. 1210mm (case + fitting), clip-on bar spec cable is approx. 1115 (so approx. -100mm overall case / fitting length). This makes a big difference when fitting clip on bars. And if comparing to a high bar model (up bar) which is commonly found on early W650's outside of Japan, the length is approx. -200mm as the factory up bar cable is extremely long.

*Also, the clip-on bar spec cables have a metal end with an approx. 35-degree bend (just like the low bar factory cable) rather than the straight cable end. As the routing is changed when lowered, this bend helps with guiding the cable.

Q: Can the "low bars spec" clutch cable be used with clip on bars?
A: The length is ok for clip on bars. However, this clip-on spec cable is the first choice as they lose an extra 95mm to 100mm (approx.). But if clip on spec cable is out of stock the low bar cable will also work as an alternative.

Q: Can the "up bars spec" (high bar) clutch cable be used with clip on bars?
A:
The high bar cable length is way too long for clip on bars. Just forget that idea as it is terrible to have 200mm of cable looping around headlights, and clutch cables hitting the front wheel on turns!

Q: What brake line suits the "low bars spec" conversion?
A: The 750mm D spec line (#60593) suits clip-on bar conversions. *However, if your clip-on bars use a riser and sit well above the top clamp, also consider the 800mm (60594) or 850mm D Spec line (60595).The same can be said for clutch and throttle cables (if your clip-on bars sit well above top yoke, consider low bar spec cables).
