Product Overview
DAYTONA SR400/SR400FI ('03-'17) POLISHED TOP BRIDGE, 48220.
The DAYTONA polished alloy top bridge has a classic cafe racer style that emphasizes a slim / minimal design. Finish is polished alloy. Fit as is and enjoy the polished alloy finish or the T/B can be painted or coated as you like (an example image is seen here above of a T/B painted black). A long time seller in our store and in Japan due to the quality, popular styling, finish and durability which sets this product apart from similar top bridges. Made in Japan to ensure prolonged life time use!
FEATURES:
-> Unlike many other top bridges on the market (& the OEM top bridge), the ignition switch mount on this product is offset, so you can lock the handlebars when using the handlebar stopper (26157).
-> It is an essential item for enjoying the SR with clip on bar specifications.
-> Quality casting done in Japan from quality alloy.
-> Polished finish made specifically for the SR400/500
-> Made in Japan
COMPATIBILITY:
Top bridge (48220) is for the later SR400 type that uses the genuine top bridge nut and it is the Japan spec. *See notes below & refer to the following details for compatibility of 48220 models.
48220 MODEL REFERENCE: (see list at the bottom of this page)
+ SR400 ('03~08) JDM spec (grey import into Aust.) - is a direct bolt on.
+ SR400FI (10~19) JDM spec (sometimes sold as a grey import in Aust.) - is a direct bolt on.
+ SR400FI (14-17) Aust/US/Europe. (can be used no problem), see notes below.
+ Forks: = Factory 35mm.
NOTES & INFO:
-> Models made after > ('94 / 6-) may require drilling of the factory shear off bolts that are factory fitted to the ignition switch when swapping the switch to the new top bridge.
-> Models built between ('03 -'08), and (2010~2017) cannot be used with genuine headlight brackets (due to clip on bar spec). See below.
-> For Australian, Europe and the US (14~17 SR400FI), the ignition switch is a normal type (not immobiliser type like in Japan), so this differs to the JDM spec model. However you can easily use this T/B 48220 or you can also use the 48219 version. If using 48220 some spacers may be omitted when fitting due to the differences between country models. As a rule for AU/US/EU models refer to the 48219 instructions on the guide sheet provided.
EXTRA INFO:
1. Offset ignition switch use with bar limiters: It is a requirement in most countries that the handlebar lock functions, failing to do so may void registration etc. within your region. The top bridge will commonly be installed with clip on bars and a bar limiter. The handlebar limiter is used to prevent switches interfering with the tank. One great feature of this top bridge (unlike others) is the possiblity to use the original factory handlebar lock with this product due to the offset switch mount. Many T/B’s don’t offer this feature, so please consider using this Daytona unit - before opting for others.
2. When removing the ignition switch from your factory top bridge (and swapping over to 48220), the drilling of the security shear off bolts may be required, (*depending on year model). Typically, bikes built from ('94 / 6-) onwards have shear off bolts.
3. Fitting of the top bridge should be done with the use of clip-on bars; in which case the OEM headlight bracket cannot be used. Please fit separate headlight brackets (as per all clip-on conversions). We sell a range of headlight stays that are suitable.
4. The factory indicators will in most case need to be relocated or mounted on new stays (brackets) - see our selection of indicator stays in store.
ATTENTION:
If the surface is left as is, it may dull (light oxidization), especially when parked near the ocean or left outdoors in the weather for prolonged periods. The shine can be easily returned and replenished with aluminium polish. We recommend the top bridge is polished with a soft aluminium polish regularly.
Fitted with DAYTONA alloy top bridge, DAYTONA polished fork top caps, DAYTONA headlight stays & CEV replica "vintage "headlight, finished with a 60mm DAYTONA speedometer. Turn signals have been relocated to the lower triple clamp. Original switches and levers are retained. We stock all related parts, talk to us about the conversion possibilities available.
