DAYTONA SR400/500 "NORTON MANX REPLICA TANK", POLISHED, W/MONZA CAP, 66678.
The SR400/500 “NORTON MANX” style tank by DAYTONA Japan represents classic design and modern manufacturing techniques. Crafted as a tribute to the iconic Norton Manx, this tank is not only a nod to the past but also a versatile component for classic motorcycle enthusiasts and custom bike builders alike. Its aluminium construction ensures durability, and a polished finish adds to its aesthetic appeal. Fitted with a lockable Monza style cap and supplied with all essentials needed to install easily adds to the overall SR400/500 tank package.
As seen in the product images, the commitment to quality is evident in its Japanese craftsmanship, ensuring that each tank is not just a part, but a piece of crafted workmanship second to none! Designed specifically for Yamaha SR400/500 models, the tank seamlessly integrates onto the original factory SR tank location tabs front and rear using the supplied hardware, so there is no fabrication or altering needed (bolt on straight out of the box).
An important detail of the Daytona Manx style tank is the proportions, the Daytona SR400/500 tanks have been made specifically for the Yamaha SR400/500, meaning there is no oversized or out of place fitment, (unlike other brands sold elsewhere that are offering generic one size fits all tanks).
The dye pressing process, coupled with robotic welding ensures a flawless construction, while the pressure testing before shipment guarantees performance & reliability. As expected, the normal SR400/500 (78-2008) type petcock can be installed or swapped from your current factory tank. Whether you keep the tank polished or customized with paint (or a blend of both), the Manx type of tank is a premium choice for those looking to combine classic café racer styling with contemporary custom bike builds. It's a testament to the enduring legacy of the Manx and the evolution of modern motorcycle customization.

-> SR400/500 (78-79) carbie models – (*if the seat used with the tank is compatible).
+ See important notes regarding frame bridge and seat length below within the installation tips.
TIPS:
-> The '78-'79 models have a frame bridge at the rear of the frame, after 79 this bridging bracket was remove on all later models, however, if you have a 78 or 79 model consider the seat you decide to use with this tank as removal of the frame bridge is often required if using seats that clash with the frame bridge.
-> As a guide, the Manx style tank is suitable with “short” custom seats that are of a shorter length, than the normal factory seat. In other words, you need a single short type of seat with this tank. Some seats may clash. In general, many are fine but factor in the tanks extra length when buying seats.
RECOMMENDED SEAT:
-> The POSH SR400/500 Short “Café 5” seat (Black with red piping #901113-20) have been installed with this tank. The Café 5 seat is made for use with the POSH Norton Tank Cover, so it is an ideal seat for adaption here with the Norton tank proper.
-> Nitroheads Café seats have been used by our customers (*if they are shortened at the front).
-> Peyton Place SR400/500 seats have been fitted with this tank but require shortening.
-> Others......customise as you like. FYI: The Daytona SR400 image above is using a Moto Tipo Seat.
*There are many commercially available seats on the market that will be usable or are adaptable. Some may be ok; some need adjustments, and some may not fit at all due to dimensions of the seats. We cannot answer questions about every seat on the market.
*However, if you need a seat talk to us about the options, we (VANEM) can offer you!
ATTENTION:
1, This tank does NOT suit the SR400 ('10-) FI models, and cannot be installed on injected models due to a change in the shape of the tank bottom plate and fuel tap fittings and internal plumbing etc. For FI models, see the Norton replica tank listed in our store (#91745).
2, Please use OEM fuel cock. It is recommended to replace the O-ring with a new o ring when mounting. OEM part number: 1J7-24512-00(-92/7), 2G2-24512-00(92/8-), sold separately. You may also opt to replace the screw crush washers also!
3, Aluminium gasoline tanks can have some manufacturing marks due to the handmade / welding processes. *We cannot accept complaints about minor marks or minor wrinkles or ripples in the alloy etc., so please only purchase after understanding in advance, with that said these are made to a very high standard.
4, If you are fitting clip-on bars and fitting the turn signals (lamps) next to the under bracket, use of the handlebar stopper (26157 or 910041) is recommended (sold separately).
5, The alloy surface is untreated to take advantage of the lustre of aluminium. Maintenance is required to maintain a highly polished look. We recommend cleaning regularly and polishing lightly on a regular basis. We also recommend if you live by the sea, take measures to protect the tank just like all polished parts.
